Our Justice System is broken, and the stats are striking.

The US spends $80 billion a year to incarcerate 2.2 million people.

70 Million Americans have a criminal record.

1 out of every 100 Americans is behind bars.

But most tragic, we believe, is that 2.7 million American children currently have at least 1 incarcerated parent.

We also believe that we have a critical moment of opportunity to create change.

Right now, both houses of Congress have introduced comprehensive justice reform legislation.

The Senate recently announced the Sentencing Reform and Corrections Act, which would reform federal prison sentencing, reduce automatic and harsh punishments, and increase support for rehabilitation programs.

That bill was followed by companion legislation in the U.S. House, the Sentencing Reform Act. These reforms join other proposals including the SAFE Justice Act, which would implement broad based, system-wide reforms to curtail over-criminalization, enhance rehabilitation, and support individuals’ re-entry into society.

We are closer than ever, but we need your help. The President has asked us to help him get a bill across his desk before the end of the year.

Sign this petition above, and pass it along to others. We’re going to carry your voice back with us to Washington; once we collect one million signatures, we’ll present them to the President as evidence that there’s widespread support for criminal justice reform.

The time for reform is NOW.

Help us return home millions of mothers and fathers, and help us rehabilitate instead of punish them, so they can stay home with their children for good.
